THE EVOLUTION OF HAMPTONS BARKERY
By Jocelin Kalish
Hello there! My name is Jillian Griffiths and I am the owner of Hamptons Barkery. I’m so happy you decided to check out our page. Here you will find my journey toward founding Hamptons Barkery. My fiancé and I had just moved into a new home together. We had our white picket fence, our small town living and two amazing boys. With time, we realized there was one thing that was missing. What was it, you ask? A furry friend, of course! A best friend of our own that would cuddle on our sofa, wag it’s tail at us when we walk through the door and cover us with endless slobber and licks (kisses).
We were convinced to find our perfect match and the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) in East Hampton was where we looked. There we met two adorable pups that ended up being adopted by other loving families. We were on two strikes. On January 28th, 2018, we ended up going back to ARF one last time. We were introduced to a 3-month-old pup named “Dooley” (now Duke). When we first met him, the hours passed easily. It was obvious we had found our perfect fit and, in that moment, we decided he would join our family. The beginning was a challenge, to say the least. Our house suffered some damage the first day and our poor pup suffered from digestive issues. I researched dog training and how I to aid his digestion. I began feeding Duke wholesome, home-cooked meals that helped him immensely. With time, the training improved his behavior in 48 hours. He became the most fun-loving, yet mellow pup.
We weren’t the only one’s who fell for Duke’s charm. Meeting Duke stirred a desire within my cousin, She wanted to have a great pup of her own. Less than two months later, she adopted Wren (now Lola) from ARF. While I was busy making home-cooked meals for Duke, my cousin tested out making homemade treats for Lola. It was at this point that the light bulb went off. I should work on making wholesome, homemade dog treats and doggie cakes for our local community. We would end up calling it, Hamptons Barkery. What pet wouldn’t want to celebrate their adoption into your family or birthday with a doggie cake?! We hope you decide to “treat” your pet to some tasty, yet healthy, snacks from Hamptons Barkery!
Please check out ARF’s article on their rescue effort in the Carolina’s. Duke and Lola were saved from being euthanized.
